Assembly
Brightwell Motor Company makes sure that you don’t just have a nice-looking car but a well-put-together car. The difference lies in thorough parts restoration and sourcing and in the disassembly and re-assembly stages.
Attention to detail, retention of original parts, use of the correct hardware – nuts, bolts, clips and so on – knowing whether to restore a part or to retain its patina – these are all the things that preserve the car’s originality and claim to authenticity and, ultimately, enhance its value. They are also the key to enjoyment of classic car ownership – classic cars that rattle, that have ill-fitting parts, excessive wind noise, vibrations and other niggles, soon ruin the fun.
Communication
Restoring a car should be enjoyable and full of anticipation but is often characterised by long waits, radio silence and mismatched expectations. Brightwell customers enjoy regular communications, photographs of progress, explanations of what’s being done, with problems and challenges shared and an agreed plan around the required standard of finish and the use of original parts versus reproduction parts.
Paperwork and Charges
Paperwork is probably rarer than most of the cars being restored. Brightwell Motor Company works on standard trading terms and conditions. All work is itemised and clearly invoiced. VAT is chargeable. Please don’t ask us for a cash price.
We charge for our time working on your car and managing your project. In order to avoid conflicts of interest, we do not charge a mark-up on outsourced work.
Risk Management
Car restoration is full of risk – that you will be over-charged, that the expert isn’t really an expert after all, that the car is rustier than you thought, that the work isn’t carried out to factory standards, that the shiny paintwork won’t stand the test of time, that cheap reproduction parts will be used, that the wrong parts will be used, that the car will be over-restored and …that the project will take ten years. Brightwell Motor Company is on your side and, as your representative, our job is to help you manage these risks. The business is owned and run by professionals each with their own passion for and collection of classics. To us, reputation is everything and nothing pleases us more than pleasing you enough to recommend us to your friends.
